For Teens

Many adults seem to have amnesia when it comes to relating to how it feels to be a teen. The wider world suddenly expects you to act all grown up and begin shouldering more and more responsibility, but without the power to make your own decisions. You’re figuring out who you are and trying to find your place in the world—yet the more you learn about the world, the darker and more daunting it may seem. The landscape of your friendships can open sinkholes without warning. You may feel like you’re beginning to suffocate under the pressure and expectations of others, but the adults who care about you are so focused on helping you succeed that they too often ignore your suffering.

As a teen there are many aspects of your own life that are outside your control. One of my central aims as your therapist will be to ensure your experience of working with me is not one of them. Together we will explore your hopes for therapy and help you determine your own path forward to become the person you want to be, living life in a way you find meaningful and fulfilling. While I cannot guarantee therapy will help you solve all your problems, I can promise to always respond without judgment to your feelings and what you say or do and strive to understand your point of view.
